New Feature: User Accounts

If it’s possible to take the whole lean startup thing too an unnatural extreme, then the AttorneyFee team is high in the running for leanest startup ever. We don’t build feature until they’re absolutely necessary, and sometimes not even then. Sometimes, we wait until there is so much market demand for a new feature that the community will simply collapse without it. That’s when we know that a feature concept has truly been validated.

This is exactly the case with the new set of features that we rolled out this week: user accounts. Up until now, AttorneyFee has kept pretty tight control on the data that we deliver, from collection to pruning to publishing. Lots of attorneys have asked us for a self service interface to take control of the data that we publish about them. This week, we finally rolled out a set of tools to accomplish just that.

Attorneys can now log in securely…

And manage all of the data about their practice, from fee schedules to digital presence…

One of the best advantages of opening up our data store to the community is that in enables us to pass the torch on data validation on to the ultimate users, a modified form of crowd sourcing. In order to accomplish that, we’ve gamified the completion of user profiles…

We’ve also added a light analytics feature that enables the attorneys to track how many times their profile has come up in search results and how many times their profile has been viewed by actual users (thanks LinkedIn!)…

We are really excited to introduce these features and deepen our engagement with users, and we think it will go a long way toward ensuring that AttorneyFee continues to offer the highest quality, most reliable data about the consumer legal industry.
